Airtel Ghana has been recognized with two awards for Corporate Social Responsibility interventions. The awards, Public Relations Campaign of the year and Best Community Relations Programme of the year were handed to Airtel at the 1st Public Relations Excellence Awards Ceremony organized by the Institute of Public Relations Ghana at a ceremony in Accra over the weekend.

The first award was in recognition of Airtel’s comprehensive and widely acclaimed public relations effort before, during and after the company went to the rescue of the Odumase Krobo Presby School in Odumase.

The second award was for Airtel Ghana’s biggest social intervention programme, Touching Lives, which has already received several awards in recognition of its massive impact on a wide section of the Ghanaian society.

Airtel is committed to increase sustainability in the educations sector, reaching the grassroots of societies across Africa. Among its largest projects is the ADOPT A SCHOOL program where the most impoverished public primary schools are adopted by AIRTEL and provided with facilities including classrooms, desks text books, scholastic materials, uniforms and ICT learning facilities. Similar to Ghana, AIRTEL Tanzania has thus far implemented this project for Kiromo Primary school in Bagamoyo.
