Airtel
Ghana has been recognized with two awards for Corporate Social
Responsibility interventions. The awards, Public Relations Campaign of
the year and Best Community Relations Programme of the year were handed
to Airtel at the 1st Public Relations Excellence Awards
Ceremony organized by the Institute of Public Relations Ghana at a
ceremony in Accra over the weekend.
The
first award was in recognition of Airtel’s comprehensive and widely
acclaimed public relations effort before, during and after the company
went to the rescue of the Odumase Krobo Presby School in Odumase.
The
second award was for Airtel Ghana’s biggest social intervention
programme, Touching Lives, which has already received several awards in
recognition of its massive impact on a wide section of the Ghanaian
society.
Airtel
is committed to increase sustainability in the educations sector,
reaching the grassroots of societies across Africa. Among its largest
projects is the ADOPT A SCHOOL program where the most impoverished
public primary schools are adopted by AIRTEL and provided with
facilities including classrooms, desks text books, scholastic materials,
uniforms and ICT learning facilities. Similar to Ghana, AIRTEL Tanzania
has thus far implemented this project for Kiromo Primary school in
Bagamoyo.
